The restrictions brought by the 'Finance Act 2008' have led to a 25% reduction in the number of non-doms applying to move to the UK.
The changes brought in were actually meant to raise an extra £650 million for the UK Treasury but has actually led to an overall rduction in taxes raised from the top earners in the country.
Evidence shows that there were over 140,000 resident non-doms in the country.
It is estimated that non-doms spend a total of £19 billion in the UK each year with over £8.3 Billion in UK taxes including £4.5 Bn in UK income tax and £3.75 Bn in UK VAT and UK Stamp Duty.
